The SAT, Scholastic Achievement Test, is a three-hour standardized test that measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, and math problem solving skills for college bound students.  Students take the SAT in their junior and senior years of high school.  Participation in the SAT exam is required for entrance into many colleges and universities and is an important factor in determining how well-prepared students are for college-level work.
